Learn to tell spam apart

In most cases blog spam takes the form of a comment, however, at times spammers may use a technique known as pinging the site. This creates something what WordPress relates to as ping back. In short, it is a mention of your site on another site. You can place a link to that site below your posts, in fact, WordPress does it automatically for you. However, many spammers use dedicated software to create an impression that they have mentioned you but your website does not appear there. Sending dummy pings is an easy way to create one way links to a website, and many websites fall prey to this technique.

There is a simple way to tell this apart, check where does the ping come from. If it’s an unrelated site, and usually with a suspicious name, then most likely your blog is targeted with illegal search engine optimization practices by a spammer.

Switch off comments altogether unless you really need them

Unless you really need them, you can consider switching comments off altogether. These days, comments do not pay such an important role in your website’s search engine optimization, nor they act as a good platform for building a community (most users prefer to discuss your articles on social media instead), therefore they may be completely obsolete for you.

Keep your login info as complex as possible

In the past, all WordPress installations used to use the same default user name “Admin”. This led to a massive vulnerability of the platform. This has been revoked in one of the last years updates to the platform, yet still many spammers get access to users login details and turn their websites into a massive spam farm. They spam your social media, mess up your search engine optimization and more. Prevent that by keeping your login info as private as possible.

A business partnership is not simply a legal or financial arrangement, but a deeply meaningful personal relationship. Outside of your family, a business partner will likely be the most important part of your professional and personal life. Because of this, it is vital to work to maintain a close personal relationship with your business partner. Otherwise, miscommunication or personal conflicts may result in the destruction of an otherwise profitable business.

Staying in Touch

An important part of keeping a healthy business relationship alive is staying in touch with your business partner. This does not simply include business communications, but also remaining in personal touch. Find out when your partner’s birthday is and make certain to let him know how much you appreciate the relationship. Make certain to provide personal support if your partner is experiencing professional or personal difficulties, and let him or her know that you are willing to help. In this way, you can help maintain a close personal connection with your partner.

Make All Decisions Collaborative

Nothing can be more damaging to a business relationship than the feeling that one partner is making decisions on his or her own. It is vitally important to make certain that every partner is aware of what the other partners are doing. Remember, a business partnership is not a relationship of superiors and inferiors, but one of equals. By staying in touch with your partners and making certain they know and agree with any decisions you make, you can avoid the danger of fracturing your professional and personal relationships.

Golfing and Other Relaxing Activities

Another way to build your business relationship is to treat your partner to a relaxing sport such as golf. In addition to the benefits of the sport itself, a game of golf provides a relaxing period in which business and personal matters can be discussed without putting any pressure on the participants. In many cases, decisions arrived at during a game of gold may be better considered than those made in the business office. Furthermore, golf is an excellent way for everyone to relax, helping prepare you and your business partners for the oncoming week’s work. Look up San Francisco golf tee times or tee times in your local area for some discount golf, and go strengthen your business bond.

Maintaining an effective and congenial business and personal relationships with your partners is a vital part of maintaining an effective business. Equally, it helps ensure that you and your partners will be able to effectively weather the trials that come with any businesses partnership. By treating your partners well, you can be assured that your business’ long-term prospects will be dramatically improved.

2012 Guide to Generating More Leads Through Your Website

In this day and age, increasing the number of customers that come to you through your website is a must do for any business. In spite of what many people may claim, traditional ways of marketing are slowly being pushed aside, mainly by new technologies. As more and more prospects start to use the web for research, it is becoming more and more critical for businesses to position themselves on the net.

But, generating leads through a website is not an easy task. The old days adage of putting up a website with information about them online in hope of attracting buyers no longer applies.

These days buyers are looking for suppliers who are proactive, also online. And, unless you become one too, your company may soon fail big.

How to Market Your Business in 2012

Every time I speak, write or even think about marketing a business in 2012, I pretty much always refer to the inbound marketing, for undoubtedly, this is by far the way to market a business in recent times.

A Very Quick Introduction to Inbound Marketing

For those of you who might not know, inbound marketing is a way of promoting a business in which by creating and posting highly useful content and sharing it on social media, you allow your prospects to find you.

How to Generate More Leads through Your Website

As any inbound marketer will tell you, there are certain things you must do to generate leads through your website and here they are, not in any particular order.

Write content that hits your prospects pain points

Every prospect has a problem, and if it relates to what you do, there is an opportunity for you to make a sale. In the old days, you would target a marketing message to solve a particular problem and hope that your potential clients would notice it and came to you.

Today, what you need to do is post a highly relevant content on your site that hits your prospect pain points. Without this your website most likely will never sell.

Create Highly Targeted Landing Pages

Once you have a content that speaks directly to your audience, you have to make sure that you will send them to a landing page optimized for them and their pain points. Regardless of whether you sell your own product or run an eCommerce bike racks store for instance, such landing page would speak directly to the customer and offer incentives to buy from you.

Again, the days of customers buying from your home page are well gone and we need to use targeted message on our websites to increase conversion rates.

Make it easy to share your content

In order for your inbound marketing campaigns to work, you need to make it easy for your prospect to share your content. Install social media buttons on your blog, something like the ones I have on this site. Put them somewhere prominent (I prefer right below the title but you can play around with the placement to see what works best for you).

Optimize Your Content for Search Engines

Search engine optimization plays a big part in your 2012 marketing strategies. If you want prospects to find your website you need to make sure that it is fully optimized for SEO. There are many guides on doing so and a quick search online should tell you exactly what to do.
