How to Quickly Build an Email List

I will assume here that you already have great content on your site and regular visitors. If not, work on those things first before you start building an email list. You will not succeed without website traffic and the content that will make people go “Wow”. If you have both, then work on the following things:

Make Your Opt in Box Prominent

Your visitors will not subscribe if they don’t find the opt in box, fact. Have your subscribe box on top of your sidebar, or even above your posts like I do on my other site,https://knowyourbusinesssec.blogspot.com/

TIP: Ignore popups, they may have worked years ago but today they provide only a distraction.

Try to collect email addresses from individual posts

Apart from having the box prominent on the home page and sidebar, make sure that people landing on a specific post on your site can also subscribe. Have a subscribe box underneath your posts, or even inside in the copy if it fits there.

Give them a reason to subscribe

“why should I subscribe?” is the most common question people ask themselves before signing up. Naturally we want to protect ourselves from spam and sales crap. Make sure that you give your users a good enticement to subscribe. This could simply be the advice you will be sharing with them, or maybe a free ebook they will receive once they join your email list.

Don’t expect things to move fast

I know that the internet is filled with success stories of people who built their email lists super quick. Most of it is just a lie created to extract some cash out of your pocket. In reality list building takes time and you just have to be patient, increase the traffic to your site and write great content.

Facebook become Your Business

A nifty way to promote your business is through Facebook. Of all the social media platforms (with the exception of Twitter) Facebook is by far the most popular, with over 900 million users worldwide. They’re easy to set up and are excellent for promoting what you do because they allow other users to interact with you and they let you share your current status message with everyone that has liked your page. If you’ve not created a brand page for your business, no matter how big or small, the time to do it is now. Nadine Bourne from XLN Telecom explains what a Facebook brand page is and how can you make one for your business.

1. Brand Pages vs Individual Profiles.

Everyone on Facebook has a profile. It’s where those pictures of you at the picnic and your status updates show up. A brand page is exactly the same, but instead of representing an individual, it represents a business and the business can use it to post pictures and status updates. When someone links to you on Facebook as a person, no matter how you feel about them they are called your “friend”. With a brand page when someone links to your page by clicking the “Like” button at the top of the page, they become your fan (sometimes known as a “Like”). You can also have your own dedicated URL that takes people directly to your Facebook brand page, for example https://www.facebook.com/Have-Some-Fun-1836872313032519/

2. Creating a Brand Page.

To create a Facebook Brand page, you must sign up for your own individual Facebook profile. Once you’ve got one, you can then use your profile to create a brand page for your business. When you’re viewing your Facebook News Feed you’ll notice a grey title called “Pages and Ads”. Hover your mouse over the title of this section (or click if using an App) and you’ll see the word “More”:

How to Promote Your Website on the Web
Promoting your website on the web is a must thing to do if you are serious about runnign a business. Today, every business wants to be found online. Getting traffic, especially targeted visitors, the ones who are looking for what you are selling means that you don’t have to work as hard on your sales. Your website is working for you in that regard. However, many small business owners find it extremely difficult to promote their website on the web.

The internet seems like a completely different business environment when compared to an offline world. Nothing is further from the truth though. Practically the same rules apply to both online and offline world. In both worlds, in order to be found by your prospects, you need to be in some way recommended. This could be a referral in a case of an offline world, or a link, a mention on someone’s site or social media profile when it comes to the internet. And thus, if you want to promote your website on the web, you need to learn how to gain recommendations for your website.

How to Promote Your Website on the Web

1. Ask your customers for help

This is by far the easiest, and the most overlooked way to promote your site. Your customers already know you, trust you, have done business with you, have seen the results of your work and in many cases, have already recommended you to someone else. Who will be easier to convince to mention your website on theirs if not your current clients?

If your clients have blogs, ask them to post a note about you, or a recommendation there. Or ask if they could add a link to your site from their contact page, or any other page at that. Not all of them will agree to that, some will simply don’t know how to do this, but you should get a few good mentions to your site anyway.

2. Engage in online forums

Some say that if you want people to talk about you, you need to spark those conversations. And, there is something to it. Online forums related to your industry are the best place to fire up such posts exchanges.

Become active on forums. You don’t have to spend a lot of time there but 15 minutes a day can make an awful lot of difference for your website, and business. Answer peoples problems, questions and requests. Become known as an expert in your field and people will talk about you, not to mention that they will visit your site, and recommend it further.

3. Use social media Just like online forums,

social media are another great place to spark conversations about you. And, practically the same rules as with forums apply here. Spend couple minutes a day sharing great content and tips relating to what you do on Twitter and Facebook and watch your site traffic go up.

4. Build Up Your SEO Presence

Lastly, and probably more importantly, you should build up your SEO presence. This isn’t the easiest step of them all, so hiring a professional SEO consultant might be the best option.

Promoting your website on the net is not a simple task. It requires you to work on that everyday. But the reward is great. Online sales are considered the best ones out there, simply because you don’t have to actively pursue those clients. They come directly to you through your website.
